Ecosystem Console

See your whole innovation ecosystem. Every link, sourced.

The Ecosystem Console maps every organization working in a region, from innovation programs, funds and universities to companies, labs and agencies, and the documented relationships between them. It's built from research, so nobody has to sign up first.

Three questions

Three questions every region can answer. In one place.

01 · Your ecosystem

What do we have?

Every organization, where it is, what it does and when it was last active, on one map you can filter by place and by type.

523 organizations in the Illinois sample, 312 of them active in the last 12 months.

The Illinois Console home: 523 organizations on a map of the state, with capital sources, programs and relationships counted.

02 · Strengths and opportunities

Where can we grow?

Where the region is strong and where there's room to grow. Each one starts from the evidence, adds the context, and ends with a question worth asking, alongside the organizations already positioned to help.

27 organizations reach the rest of Illinois' documented network through mHUB, a load-bearing connector. What other paths could they have?

03 · Who's here

Who's here?

The people in verified roles at organizations across the ecosystem, organization by organization. Every role is checked against the page that names it. People come and go, so this layer is maintained, never a census.

Key contacts are part of every member Console. They're left out of the public sample.

Inside a Console

Built to work with, not just to look at.

An organization opened in the Illinois Console: its documented relationships, each with its basis and source.
The Opportunity tracker in the Illinois Console, with suggested opportunities and their baselines.
  • Network map

Every documented relationship drawn, with the connectors that carry the most paths and the places that link up least.

  • Opportunity tracker

Follow any opportunity over time with a target and an owner. It moves only when a new relationship is documented.

  • Every organization, opened up

What it does, where it is, who it works with and how each link is known: reported, official record, planned or a shared role.

  • Reports

A State of the Network report and briefing pages you can print or share with your board.

  • Ask the Console

Ask a question in plain language and get an answer drawn only from your Console's own evidence.

  • Across your ecosystems

Members with more than one Console see the organizations working across all of them, and which places share the most.

The evidence standard

Every number opens its evidence.

Click any number in a Console and you see the records behind it. When something isn't documented yet, the Console says so.

  • Checked word for word

Every relationship quote is checked against its source, word for word, with the date it was checked.

  • Labeled by basis

Each link says how it's known: an official record, a reported relationship, a planned one, or a shared role.

  • Kept current

Consoles are rebuilt as the ecosystem changes, and members see what changed since they last looked.

Where we've mapped

12 ecosystems. One method.

States, regions, a county, a university and whole countries, each mapped the same way. Member Consoles are private. Illinois is open to everyone as a sample, with organizations and relationships and without key contacts or evidence.

How a build works

From a boundary line to an open Console.

  1. 01

    Set the boundary

A city, a state, a region, a Tech Hub consortium, a university or a whole country. We start from the questions you want answered.

  2. 02

    Research the whole ecosystem

Every organization with its latest activity, and every relationship between them with a quote from its source. Nobody has to sign up.

  3. 03

    Check every line

Each relationship quote is checked word for word. Each key-contact role is verified, role by role.

  4. 04

    Read the evidence

Strengths and opportunities come as evidence, context and a question for the region to explore. Never a verdict.

  5. 05

    Open the Console

Your team signs in to the three questions, the tools and the first State of the Network report.
